The current stage of its development is characterized by change of generations in all groups of psychotropic drugs. New medicines have first of all a greater breadth of clinical activities at the selectivity of neurochemical and qualitatively higher tolerance, identified as non-conventional indications for their use, and other, previously unknown positive clinical effects. Much progress has occurred in understanding the biological mechanisms of action of psychotropic drugs, including genetically determined factors that can hope to achieve in the near future, new peaks in the psychopharmacological treatment of mental illness.
