Psychological stress and somatic disorders

Mr. State Research Center for Preventive Medicine, Ministry of Health, Moscow If a few decades ago it was thought that for only certain diseases (bronchial asthma, peptic ulcer disease, hypertension, migraine, etc.) significantly affected by psychological factors, it is now almost all somatic diseases, ranging from common cold to cancer, are to some extent "psychosomatic." In pathopsychology long been known that certain psychological states can affect physical well-being. However, in recent years, views on the relationship between psychological stress and physical disorders were substantially revised.
