As in any other case, the success ...

Like in any other case, the success of psychoanalysis depends on an adequate attitude towards it. This ratio suggests that for some time, the analysis will take more or less priority in the client's life, becoming a center of attraction of thoughts, feelings and desires. Only one client who is strongly motivated to be able to work earnestly and persistently in the psychoanalytic situation. Curiosity and a desire to understand themselves need to be complemented neurotic suffering that was not the only surface psychoanalytic experience. Neurotic symptoms or conflicting character traits should cause such severe suffering that it will make the customer bear the difficulties of psychoanalytic treatment. The client must be willing to endure the severity of the disclosure of his intimate experiences with related anxiety and guilt, he must be willing to spend considerable effort to abandon those secondary benefits, which gives it a disease, as well as quick and temporary results. Those people who seek psychoanalysis in order to study for professional advancement, training and out of curiosity, should be seen as resisting or in need of preparatory psychotherapy. Only someone who feels the patient can be analyzed deeply, not superficially. Only such people will actually try to enter into the analytical situation and work with it. Psychoanalytic approach is implemented in a specific format (frames, rules). Work begins with initial consultations (diagnostic interview). Such interviews may be several. The main objectives of the interview are: the need to discuss the initial customer request and to make it specific and realistic (subsequently request can refine and change), to develop advanced diagnostic formulation and recommendations, which include readings by some form of psychotherapy. If psychotherapy is indicated, the psychologist and his client to discuss the conditions for its conduct (frame format), reached agreement on several important points. Different types of psychotherapy involve a different format to work with our customers, reflecting the characteristics of each particular approach. You may be offered to psychoanalysis, which requires the adoption of special conditions. Among them are the most important: the basic rule (say whatever comes into his head to avoid censorship), use of the couch, a frequent mode of visits (3-5 times per week). Psychoanalytic psychotherapy involves a rare meeting with the therapist (2 times a week), the couch is not always used, the basic rule can be used in conjunction with other technical procedures, such, such as: sand-play therapy (playing in the sandbox) and an active imagination. Supportive analytical psychotherapy does not aim to elaborate the deep problems but, rather, concerned about maintaining the current mental status, preventing the deterioration of the client. Performed with a frequency of once a week, a couch, as a rule, not used, the performance of the basic rules of retreating to the sidelines before the need for more structured technical procedures.
